EDUCATION

Ramaiah
Sociology and Elements of Indian History

The students of engineering, pharmacy and design explore the historical and sociological influences that helped create modern India. Being part of a course that accounts for 2 academic credits, the engagement includes an attempt to understand the origins of the glue binding the sheer diversity of identities in this land and, contrarily, the ideological armoury that is seeking to chip away at the country’s secular unity and integrity. This course commences with a semester end street theatre fest showing plays on relevant sociological topics.

Theatre for All

Theatre for All is a 2-credit Open Elective course on Theatre studies for students in the seventh semester. Theatre for All will discuss theatre history, genres, and theories of acting, as well as the physicality and the minutiae of performance - on stage and on other spaces. It will explore Theatre in Education as a potential medium for exploring a variety of applications.

NSD
Speech and Voice

The Speech and Voice course explores grounding principles of breathing and voice with the students of acting at the National School of Drama, Bangalore. Based on their understanding of the provenance of voice – where it comes from, what conditions are to be fulfilled for the free expression of the actor’s/speaker’s/ singer’s voice, and how does one hone it for quality and strength; Osage points to ways of applying that understanding and skill to produce effective speech cadences in dramatic dialogue. Osage instruction material is based on the Pause-Introspect-Connect methodology developed in house, a functional and transparent foundation for students of acting and singing.
